February 29, 2008 - Our Lady of Assumption
On Friday, February 29, 2008 as part of a Joint Public Education effort Customer Service staff from Carmichael Water District along with staff from Del Paso Manor Water District gave a Hydrologic Cycle / Water Conservation presentation to Ms. Yarbrough’s first grade class at Our Lady of Assumption School. Through visual aids and trivia questions the class learned about the hydrologic cycle, where our drinking water comes from, and how to save this precious resource. As a special arts and craft project the students created bracelets out of beads that represented each part of the water cycle.
View Photo Gallery and check out what the students had to say about the presentation and what they learned during our visit.
January 16, 2008 - Garfield
Elementary School
On January 16, 2008 Carmichael Water District will be hosting
an assembly for all students at Garfield Elementary School.
The assembly is titled “The Great Water Mystery”
and is presented by the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL).
The Great Water Mystery uses an engaging mystery story, side-splitting
audience participation, and dramatic demonstrations to teach
about the water cycle, watersheds, and resource management.
It also delivers a powerful message about the importance of
water conservation.
Presentations are structured around California science standards,
and are adaptable for kindergarten through eighth grade. Depending
on the age of the audience, performances range from 40 minutes
to 1 hour. Each show comes with activity packets for each
grade level, giving teachers a fun and easy way to expand
on the presentation.
