Water is our most precious resource. Althou
gh water makes up 80% of the earth's surface, less than 1% of it is fresh water. The rest is salty, frozen, or in the atmosphere. With only 1% of the earth's water available for drinking, we need to find ways to save water and keep from polluting the water we have.
You can help save water by following these water-saving tips:
- Use automatic shut-off devices on all hoses.
- Use a hose timer when watering manually.
- Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth. You'll save 2-3 gallons per day.
- Use a broom to clean sidewalks instead of a hose.
- Listen to weather forecasts so you don't water the lawn when it's going to rain.
- Don't let the hose run when you wash the car. Hoses can waste 5 gallons a minute.
- Check your faucets and toilets to see if they are leaking and let the people in charge know about leaks wastewater.
